Saturday morning we went to pick up our packets at the LAF Village. We heard Lance’s mother, Linda Armstrong Kelley, talk about her new book and answer questions. That afternoon we got on our bikes and road to the State Capital building and took a few pictures. We rode over to the University of Texas football stadium. The Longhorns were playing the Texas Tech Red Raiders and we listened to the crowd roar. Saturday evening we heard Lance speak at a program he and CNNs Dr. Sanjay Gupta hosted for four cancer survivors.
Sunday morning Lance was the first rider to initiate the “Ride for the Roses” event around 7:30 a.m. About 7,000 riders followed in eleven waves. I rode 40 miles and Margee did the fun ride. On my twenty-six mile marker, Robin William’s Peloton group passed.
